The Mist

It is another drizzly foggy day out. Sigh. It has been like this most of the summer. Even when the temperature rose downtown, it stayed cool and foggy out here closer to the beach. Summer means that the fog is heavier, whiter, thicker and closer to the ground. Drizzly enough to wake up to wet streets. Traveling home from downtown on the bus means going through numerous micro-climates. When the bus chugs up the hill towards the neighborhood, you are hit with a wall of thick fog. It makes me think of Stephen King's The Mist. That is how I visualized his novel of creepy creatures living within that realm. What awaits ahead in the midst of the mist? I crawl out of my imagination fog as I am nearing my stop. I ring the buzzer, get off the bus, pull my hood over my head and walk towards the house. I will have to wonder on another day of what lies within the mist.
